You Are Using AI — Shouldn't It Be Cheaper? Sometimes Yes, Sometimes No.

Short answer: sometimes yes, dramatically, and sometimes no, not at all. Anyone who tells you AI made every part of marketing cheap is selling you something.

The variable is not whether AI is involved. It is whether the work is production or repair. Here is what that looks like in hours and dollars from our own jobs.

Two jobs, same tools, wildly different cost

A client asked us to improve the SEO and AEO on the existing pages of their Duda website. With AI assisting at every step, it still ran five to seven hours per page. Audit the page, protect what it already ranked for, rewrite inside the limits of the platform, restructure the headings by hand, fix it in an editor that was never designed for that work.

On our current build process, a full page with SEO and AEO built in from the first draft is $50. Not hours of repair — a page produced correctly the first time, because question coverage, structure, and internal linking are part of how it gets made.

Why the gap is so large

Price follows hours. Building a page right the first time takes a fraction of the time it takes to reverse-engineer a page that was built wrong. AI widened that gap; it did not close it.

Where AI genuinely lowers your bill

  • New websites and new pages, with SEO and AEO from the start
  • Blogs and ongoing content, where research and drafting used to eat the budget
  • Keyword and question research
  • Page planning and site architecture
  • Reporting and performance analysis

In all of these, the machine handles volume and a human handles judgment. That combination is where the real savings live, and it is why we can sell a page for $50 instead of billing a day of labor for it.

Where it changes nothing

  • Retrofitting old pages on a platform that resists structural edits
  • Cleaning up a site built badly — by a person or by AI
  • Untangling business facts that conflict across your site, listings, and profiles
  • Any decision about claims, brand, or strategy that a human has to own

If your current site needs this kind of repair, AI will not rescue the budget. Often the cheaper path is to rebuild properly rather than pay by the hour to patch something that was never built for how customers search now.

What $50 a page actually covers

  • Copy written for the service and the town, not filler
  • A page structured so an AI assistant can quote it
  • Direct answers to the questions customers actually ask
  • Title, description, and heading structure done properly
  • Internal links that connect it to the rest of your site

That is the whole page, finished. Not a template you fill in later and not a draft that needs a second invoice.

How to judge a quote you have been given

  • Ask what the price per page is, in writing
  • Ask whether SEO and AEO are included or billed separately
  • Ask what happens in month four, when the build is done
  • Ask what you own if you leave

If those answers are vague, the quote is not really a price — it is a starting position. Ours are published, which is the entire point.

FAQ

Questions people ask about this

Does AI make marketing cheaper?
For new builds, new pages, and content, yes — substantially, because production is where AI saves the most time. For repairing or retrofitting existing pages, no. That work took us five to seven hours per page even with AI.
Why is a new page only $50?
Because it is built correctly the first time. SEO and AEO structure, question coverage, and internal linking are part of how the page is produced, so there is no second pass of expensive repair work.
Should I fix my current site or rebuild it?
If the pages need structural repair, rebuilding is usually cheaper than paying by the hour to patch them. We will tell you honestly which side of that line your site falls on.
Is cheap marketing worse marketing?
Not when the savings come from real efficiency instead of cut corners. Every page still gets human review, and the prompts behind the work are built on more than twenty years of marketing experience.
